Ballet teacher/Horse trainer Single Again 4 1967
After graduation I went to Saskatoon Business College. Decided I would never be a secretary so moved to Montreal and went to a Dance Teacher's College. While there I auditioned for a dance company, Les Feux Follet, and danced with them which included the Ed Sullivan show. Married Gordon Garvie and had 4 children. Gord passed on in 1988. I worked in the Agricultural Economics Dept., U. of S. as a secretary for 9.5 years (go figure), and have been teaching ballet all through the years. I now have 7 grandchildren and am living on an acreage outside of Saskatoon with my Mom, 4 dogs and 13.5 horses. Life is great! Send Joan a MessageSend Joan a Message

Retired Teacher Married 6 1964

Born into a family of teachers, I took to the trade fairly naturally and spent 28 years teaching up north, down south, back east and out west.  My health was always good until I suffered some mini-strokes, ending my career a few years prior to plans.  Since then I’ve been banished to the hinterlands of North Vancouver Island where I write poetry and (with my wife, Carol) sift through beach sand looking for valuable things left by wealthy tourists.  Between Carol and I we have six children.  And, with our extended family, we claim a whopping 17 grandchildren!  Whew, it’s like being back in the classroom.  I have many fond memories of NCI – the place up on that hill where (in many ways) life began.

Lionel Gaunt
Retired Married 3 1945
Graduated in Engineering in 1949 and worked almost 45 years with various organizations in management and administration. Joined C-I-L Ammunition Division, Brownsburg, QC, upon graduation, ending up as Works Manager, Explosives Division, Brainerd Works, just outside Winnipeg. In 1967, joined Duval Potash (now Cory Potash), west of Saskatoon and was involved in the start-up of this plant as Department Head, Engineering and Maintenance.  Canada Post entered an era of automation in the seventies and I was recruited in 1970, at Ottawa, and was directly involved in project management in the selection, purchase, installation (and later operation) of electronic equipment for the automation of letter processing. This equipment together with the the new Postal Code created the first national automatic letter processing system in the world. Retired in Ottawa in 1993 and along with my sport involvement, hobbies and 9 grandchildren I manage to keep myself busy and active. Along with my sister Corinne, we are looking forward to renewing acquaintances with classmates and friends this coming July. It was most interesting to read classmate Dick Moody's detailed submissions under 'Pop Culture.' To recall all that, Dick, you must have kept a diary. Always remember your sense of humour and hope to see you at NCI this summer. Also hello to Jack Roney. Send Lionel a MessageSend Lionel a Message

Arlene Zapfe (George)
Retired NA Married 4 1953
I am looking forward to attending the 100th for Nutana, and hopefully renewing acquaintances with former classmates.  Also my brother, Flt. Sgt. Mert Zapfe attended Nutana and graduated in 1940-41.  He was killed in WW II and is buried in Holland.  I was hoping that perhaps some of his classmates might still be around.  At any rate, it will be exciting to attend the Reunion.
